The world of skincare can be complicated. At Monastery we aim to keep it simple. Founder & esthetician of over 20 years, Athena, answers your most frequently asked questions.
Our first professional tool, The Deep Red At Home LED Mask, features the deepest-colored bulbs on the market—a rich burgundy hue, unlike the orange-red tones commonly used in other devices. This deeper red light saturates the skin cells more effectively. The Deep Red has a high irradiance of 35mw/cm² at the 660-nanometer wavelength. This ensures optimal energy absorption into the skin, boosting collagen production and promoting cellular turnover with professional-grade efficiency. Finally, with 470 LEDs—more bulbs per square inch than most devices—The Deep Red ensures uniform coverage for consistent, all-over treatment.
This non-invasive at-home treatment helps to stimulate collagen production, reduce fine lines, helps heal acne, clear up hyperpigmentation and improve circulation and calm inflammation.
Q: I see a lot of these devices on the market today – why is this one any different?
It’s the first LED on the market to use dark red bulbs. It’s much more powerful and is obvious immediately when you compare any other mask on the market. Turns out that saturation of color depends on intensity of hue. (Which when you think about that it’s pretty obvious).
Q: Are LED masks really that effective?
Yes. LED is one of the most effective things that you can do for your skin. NASA used it for plant regeneration and through that discovered it also worked on healing human cells.
Q: How long should I do the mask and how frequently?
When you start with The Deep Red we recommend to start on the lowest setting (the setting it defaults to when you turn it on) and begin with 10 minutes. You can slowly start to increase both the time and the intensity of the light within days. You can safely use the mask up to twice per day for up to 20 minutes. If you notice any irritation, pull back the intensity or duration of your treatment.
Q: Which products work best in collaboration with The Deep Red LED mask?
My favorite is Gold. It’s just such a powerhouse of a product packed with vitamins and anti-inflammatory ximynenic acid. The LED is anti-inflammatory as well so it’s a double whammy of goodness. Your skin looks so great after.
Q: Should I put products on when I use the mask?
You absolutely can! We love pairing masking with the Gold Restorative Face Oil – the benefits of the face oil are going to intensify from the light of the bulbs. That being said, when you introduce products to your face you are creating a barrier for the light. You’re going to get the most benefits of the LED with a clean face. It's your choice.
We do not recommend to use your LED mask in conjunction with any active ingredients (retinol, AHAs, etc.).
A routine we love:
Cleanse your skin with Rose Cleansing Oil
Use The Deep Red to your preference (with Gold Restorative Face Oil or on clean skin)
Follow up with your preferred moisturizer such as Gold Restorative Face Oil and/or Attar Floral Repair Concentrate
Q: How quickly will I see results?
You can see results right away, after the first 5 minutes of use. Inflammation lowered, skin brightened, skin smoothed.
Q: Should the mask fit snug to my face?
No, the mask does not need to be touching your face to get the benefits of LED light. You can adjust your straps to fit more snugly or more loosely on your face but rest assured, you will get the amazing benefits of the burgundy bulbs either way.
Q: Will the LED lights hurt my eyes?
No, red light is not harmful to your eyes. It is actually healing! But if the light is too bright, make sure to utilize the eye cushions.
Q: What else should I know?
